Church Leadership

Rev. Charles Updike has pursued the calling of God to pastoral ministry for over 50 years. He has served churches in the District of Columbia, Maryland and California. Upon his retirement from full time ministry, First Baptist Church of Glendale bestowed upon him the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus.

Pastor Updike is a native Kentuckian and graduated from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY andSouthern Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has served as President of the DC Baptist Convention and on the Board of Trustees for Southern Seminary and the Baptist World Alliance.

Charlie & Sharon are blessed to live near their son, his wife and two grandchildren.
